Patricia Denmark

Patricia is beginning her twenty-first year as Director of Music at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.  She also serves as Head Choir Director in the Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, is a long time member of The Civic Chorale in Johnson City, and has performed in a variety of other community, church, school, and professional choruses and ensembles throughout her career. Patricia is honored to have sung and learned tricks of the trade under the batons of Robert Shaw, Lara Hoggard, John Rutter, Gerre Hancock, André Previn, and Helmut Rilling. Patricia believes that her many years of continuous membership in a choir contribute greatly to her successes as a conductor.

Sarah Malone

Sarah Malone is the co-conductor of Cantemus Women's Choir. With over ten years of experience conducting vocal groups in church, school, and community settings, Sarah is well positioned to come alongside Artistic Director Patty Denmark.

Holding a BS in Music Education from Clearwater Christian College (2005) and an MA with emphasis in Choral Conducting from Florida Atlantic University (2012), Sarah rounded out her education by studying in Ireland with Anuna Choral Summer School in 2011. Her musical formation took shape under Dr. Patricia Fleitas; she also served as teaching Assistant for Dr. A. Duane White, studied harp under Dolly Roberts, and completed student teaching under the direction of William Renfroe.

Though she’s been singing in choirs since she was a child, Sarah didn't come to love choral music until college. Originally, she began studying piano and harp but switched to music education in order to pursue conducting and teaching choirs professionally.

Her dedication paid off. Sarah has taught elementary, middle, and high school music; directed adult and children's choirs; and planned worship for a church in Florida. In 2012, she also helped establish the semi-professional choir, Espressivo, still active in South Florida.

Sarah was harpist for the Treasure Coast Symphony (2006–2009), a singing member of Espressivo (2012–2014), assistant conductor of Treasure Coast Community Singers (2012–2014), and is a current member of American Choral Director Association.

Sarah has been happily married to her husband, Anthony, for nine years. Together, they have three boys: Gabriel (7), Christian (5), and Philip (3). They enjoy homeschooling their children, baking their own bread, and pretending they are farmers by keeping chickens.
